Set during Emperor Zhe Zong’s reign, the story follows three men: Qiao Feng, leader of the beggar clan; Duan Yu, a prince of Dali; and Xu Zhu, a Shaolin monk. These three become sworn brothers as they navigate the pugilistic world.
Qiao Feng, a respected hero, is wrongfully accused of being of Khitan descent and a traitor. As he seeks to clear his name, he uncovers the truth about his identity and finds love, crossing paths with Duan Yu and Xu Zhu. Duan Yu, a cheerful prince, flees from martial arts training but unexpectedly masters powerful techniques. He falls in love with Wang Yu Yan, who only has eyes for her cousin, Murong Fu. Xu Zhu, a pure-hearted Shaolin monk, becomes a powerful martial artist and embarks on an unexpected adventure, entangled in the conflicts between Song and Liao. The intertwined journeys of these three heroes shape their destiny.
